Mama Tune Up

Up to half of all women experience weakness in both the abdominal muscles and pelvic floor muscles after pregnancy and up to a third still have a tummy gap at eight weeks post-birth. . It is very common for women to have postural changes. This can lead to women developing pelvic floor issues, back pain or bladder, bowel and sexual dysfunction. These conditions should not be expected just because you’ve had a baby. Identifying these muscle imbalances as early as possible can help avoid or reduce these symptoms.

Many women have concerns about exercising safely when pregnant. Receiving guidance from a Women’s Health Physiotherapist based on a health assessment can build confidence to keep moving in the ways that you want to. Everyone has different postpartum goals regarding return to exercise and activity. Many women want their body checked before returning to exercise postnatally and this is the perfect assessment to do it.
